Billie Ruth Gregory, age 69, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 9, 2010 at the Skyline Medical Center.  Funeral services for Billie Ruth Gregory will be conducted Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Clinton Davenport officiating.  Interment will follow in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. and continue until service time Saturday.

Eric Glen LaFevers age 36 of Lafayette, Tennessee entered eternal life to be with the Lord on March 8, 2010. Funeral services for Eric Glen LaFevers were conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Wayne Meador officiating. Kelley McCarter, Jamie McCarter, James Roberts, Joshua McCarter, Blake Spivey, and Johnny Lamb served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was born in Wilson County, Tennessee on December 30, 1973 to Glen Irvin and Renita Faye McCarter LaFevers, his father preceded him in death.

Besides his father; half brother, Donnie Marsh, grandmother, Thelma LeFevers, and grandfather, James Carson McCarter, also preceded him in death.  In his younger life, Eric was very involved in hunting and fishing. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, but most of all he loved his automobiles and spending time working on them.

Eric was a loving and caring boy, who cherished his family. He was baptized on March 28, 1995 and became a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ.

After becoming disabled, he was blessed with a family that seen that his needs were meet and took great care of him.  Eric will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him. He is survived by; mother, Renita Marsh of Lafayette, TN, brothers,

Seth Marsh, and Zackary Marsh both of Lafayette, TN, two grandparents, Edna McCarter of Lafayette, TN, and Oscar LaFevers of Louisville, KY, nieces, Rhyleigh,

Jissele, and Jocelyn, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; also survive.

Ruby Gross, age 87, of Red Boiling Springs and formerly of Lafayette, and passed away on Monday morning, March 8, 2010 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services for Ruby Gross will be conducted, Thursday, March 11, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Steve Peeler and Joe Curry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Drury Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will begin Tuesday 10:00 and continue until service time Thursday.

BILL DUFFER age 64 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away suddenly Thursday, February 25, 2010.  Funeral services for Bill Duffer were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Tim Smith and Jack Honeycutt officiating. Customers and friends of Macon Rental and Cody Miller served as honorary pallbearers. Todd Bohanan, FD Fuqua, Josh Smith, Vic Donahoe, Barry Newberry, Emmit Sexton, Laron Smart, Scotty Key, Charlie Thompson, and Chris Sullivan served as active pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Duffer Cemetery.

He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on December 17, 1945 to the late John Henry and MaryAnn Elizabeth Ball Duffer. Besides his parents; one brother, Jack Duffer, also preceded him in death.

As a young man Bill was married and had five children. He was the owner of D & R Form Contractors for twenty-seven years and he also owned & operated Macon Rental here in Lafayette where he remained for the last twenty-two years. Bill was an honest hard working man that treated everyone the way that he wanted to be treated.  He enjoyed meeting people and talking with his customers. Bill loved rolling dice, coin flipping, listening to music and going to the Country Junction with friends and family. Bill enjoyed being outdoors on his farm and working with his cattle. He was of the Baptist Belief.   

Bill is survived by; son, Brent Duffer of Red Boiling Springs, TN, daughters, Annie and husband Jeff Carter of Lafayette, TN, Kay Dyer and Mike Ford of Tompkinsville, KY, April and husband Brett Zachary of Scottsville, KY, and Hope and husband Barry Gregory of Hartsville, TN, grandchildren, Travis, Dusty, & Wesley Carter of Lafayette, TN, Kaleb, Kyle, & Kameron Dyer of Lafayette, TN, and Lindsi, Hannah, Jake, & Cole Gregory of Hartsville, TN, sisters, Patty Davis, Darlene Stofer, Bonnie Shetfield, Mary Ashmore, and Janie Smart, brothers, Bo Sanders and Jessie Sanders, also survive. Bill will be missed by all of his family, friends, and neighbors who dearly loved him.

GEORGE GAINES, JR. age 84 of Louisville, Kentucky entered eternal life to be with the Lord on February 23, 2010.  Funeral services for George Gaines, Jr. were conducted Friday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Jimmy Cook officiating. Adam Jent, Jordan Kyle Jent, Alan Keith Gaines,Jr., Darren Fryer, Buddy Jent, and David Gaines served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson Memorial Park with Military Honors.

He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on January 21, 1926 to the late George and Vallie Judd Gaines. George married the love of his life, Virginia Dare Wilson on August 11, 1946, sharing sixty-four years together and raising two sons and one daughter; Virginia survives.

George was a Christian and a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army during World War II 1944-1946.

He was in Germany with the 10th, Armored Division crossing the Rhine at Heidelberg, shortly after Patton. Staff Sergeant Gaines spent most of his time in Bavaria, Munich, Berchtesgaden and others.  Staff Sergeant Gaines spent a year as part of the occupation forces in and around Cologne. He was discharged from the 9th, Infantry Division with a Military Occupation Specialist First Sergeant in June 1946.

He received the E.A.M.E. Ribbon with a Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Medal World War II ; and Occupation Medal in Germany.

In 1953 he graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Pharmacy and practiced pharmacy for over 45 years in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a member of Kentucky Pharmacy Association.

Besides his wife of sixty-four years George is survived by; sons, Dr. Alan Keith and (Donna) Gaines of Simpsonville, KY, and Charles Bruce (Jan) Gaines of Louisville, KY, daughter, Cynthia Lynette (Buddy) Jent of Bowling Green, KY, brother, Doyle (Shirley) Gaines of Lafayette, TN, grandchildren, Devon Nicole Gaines, Alan Keith Gaines, Jr., Haley Marie Gaines, Kristin Renee Jent (Darren) Fryer, Adam Douglas Jent, and Jordan Kyle Jent, three nieces and a nephew; also survive.

RONALD “RONNIE” DONEY age 57of Fountain Run, Kentucky, died on February 21, 2010 at The Palace Care & Rehab.  Funeral services for Ronnie Doney will be conducted Saturday, February 27 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook, Montana with Interment to follow in the St. Paul’s Mission Cemetery in Hays, Montana.  Local visitation with the family was Monday, February 22 from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tennessee.

Ronnie was born in Hays, Montana on December 13, 1952 to his parents; the late Eugene Wilford, known as “Happy” and Ester Marie Adam Doney. Besides his parents; sisters, Betty Jean Doney and Clare Cochran, brothers, George Doney, Buzz Doney, Lawrence “Peanut” Doney, Jasper Doney, Curtis Doney, and Sanford Doney, also preceded him in death.  

Ronnie was raised on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in Montana, he was of the Cros Ventre Tribe; he later became a Cop and Security Officer on the Reservation. He had been married in earlier life and had one son and one daughter. On December 1, 2008, Ronnie married Marie Marsh Doney; Marie survives.

In the early 90’s he moved to Nashville where he wrote music and play guitar; at this time he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed training and riding his own horses, and working out in the gym.

Ronnie was saved later in life and joined Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, Tennessee where he remained a member. He was a loving husband and father that will be missed deeply.         

He is lovingly survived by; wife, Marie Doney of Fountain Run, KY, son, Farron Doney and daughter, Ina Fox of Montana, brothers, Basil Doney, and Ervin (Ronda) Doney, sisters, Karlene Cochran, Katherine Doney, and Evelyn Doney all of Hays, Montana, six grandchildren; also survive.

Blanch Holland age 86 of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 19, 2010 at The Palace Care & Rehab.  Funeral services for Blanch Holland were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Richard Wilson officiating. Ulysses Isenberg served as honorary pallbearer. Mike Scott, Mark Scott, Shane Holland, Eric Holland, Johnny Murray, and Jeremy Holland served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Scott Cemetery.

Anna Blanch Holland, better known as Blanch, departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the age of 86.  She was born on April 13, 1923 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late James Riley and Martha Virginia Carter Payne.

Blanch was married to William Jesse Holland, known as Jesse, on April 26, 1940, sharing forty-six years together and raising seven children; Jesse preceded her in death in 1986.

Blanch was a homemaker and farmer, working by her husband’s side so they could supply their families needs. Blanch worked long hours, gardening, canning, and cooking. She enjoyed raising chickens and loved all animals, when she would go out with the children riding around she liked to see the different animals along the way.  Blanch made several quilts and did a lot of sewing in her spare time. She was young at heart and loved being around people, you never heard her talk bad about anyone; she saw the good in everyone. Blanch was a devoted mother who cared deeply for her children, and their families, her life revolved around them. She was saved at the age of twenty-eight; with her son Gene in her arms she made peace with the Lord. Blanch was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by; children, Sue Holland Bishop of Glasgow, KY, Shirley and husband George Scott of Lafayette, TN, James and wife Patricia Holland, Wanda and husband Eldon Kinslow of Lafayette, TN, Gene and wife Joan Holland, Roger and wife Judy Holland, and Janet and husband David Carr all of Lafayette, TN, fourteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a great number of dear friends; also survive.

Dorothy Lorene Walton age 88 of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 19, 2010 at Skyline Medical Center.  Funeral services for Dorothy Lorene Walton were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.

She was born on October 25, 1921 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Willie Ensley and Evie Alma Fishburn Walton. Besides her parents; two brothers and a sister, Sylvia Hemphill, also preceded her in death. 

Dorothy was employed by Ben Franklin’s 5 & 10 as a Clerk Manager for thirty-two years. Dorothy loved to do flower arrangements and after leaving Ben Franklin’s went to work for a florist in Lafayette for two years. Because of her love for sewing, Dorothy made many quilt tops that she would love to show you if you had the time to visit, she also did many alterations for people throughout the county.

Dorothy was a good hearted person, always willing to help; she liked staying busy.

At the White House Assistant Living, she helped every way she could by feeding the birds, fish and plants. She liked helping in the kitchen making dried apple pies and assisting other residents when she could. She dedicated her life to her parents Willie and Evie, taking care of both, until they passed. 

Dorothy knew a peace some never achieve. She never chose to leave here; this was home, close to family and friends. She knew where and what made her happy and she lived her life the way she chose, she seemed to know everyone in town. Dorothy had been a member of Spring Creek Missionary Baptist Church most of her life until she became unable to attend there due to her age and physical limitations. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She is lovingly survived by; nephews, Clark Hemphill and Chris Hemphill both of Indianapolis, Indiana, and many cousins, she loved dearly.

PATSY GAIL BATES of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 17, 2010 at the age of 61.  Funeral services for Patsy Gail Bates were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Stevie Reece officiating. Brian Johnson, Darrel Graves, William Sloan, Phillip Bates, Johnny Lamb, and Bobby Reece served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Lafayette City Cemetery.

Patsy Gail Bates departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the age of 61.

She was born on November 2, 1948 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Wilburn “Cotton” and Ardelia Reece Lamb.

Besides her parents, one sister, Betty Jo Harper, also preceded her in death.

As a young woman, she was married for a time and raised two sons and two daughters.

She was a homemaker, but enjoyed being outdoors and taking long walks. Patsy was a loving and caring mother, who cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. Patsy was saved at the age of fifteen and went to New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by; daughters, Tina Renee and husband Darrel of Lafayette, TN, and Tonya Diane and husband William Sloan of Scottsville, KY, sons, Phillip Wayne and wife Samantha Bates and Anthony Shane and wife Melissa Bates all of Lafayette, TN, twelve grandchildren, and one step grandchild; also survives.

SCOTT “SCOOTER” SADLER age 47 of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 13, 2010 at his residence.  Funeral services for Scott “Scooter” Sadler were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jerry Swindle officiating.  Doug Matthews, Pee Wee Halliburton, Jeremy Keene, Bruce Thomas, David Matthews, Mark Gregory, Mike Tomlin and Carl Herrington served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.

He was born on April 6, 1962 in Canton, Ohio, to his parents; Cordell and Arlene Jane Warren Sadler, his father preceded him in death.

As a young boy he lived in Ohio, but couldn’t wait for the summer months when he would come to Macon County and spend his time with his cousins. He would always help out, working in tobacco on the farms. Scooter met the love of his life and married the former Ruby Gail Matthews on June 19, 1980, sharing two daughters and twenty-nine years together; Gail survives. He worked for eighteen years for the City of Lafayette Gas Department, and during that time, he served as Assistant Supervisor.

Scooter was always full of fun, laughing and joking with all his friends. He was a loving husband, father, and very proud grandpa.  Scott suffered a lot of pain with his disability but when he could, he enjoyed having yard sales, collecting antiques, and going to Harpers to eat fish. Scott was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hillsdale #664 F & AM.  He was saved by God’s grace as a young man and is now smiling down upon us. Scott will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

He is lovingly survived by; wife, Gail Matthews Sadler of Lafayette, TN, daughters, Misty Lytle and Crystal Sadler, granddaughter, Layla Lytle all of Lafayette, TN, mother, Arlene Sadler, sister, Brenda Sadler, brother, Doug and wife Anita Sadler all of Canton, Ohio, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, also survive.

CHARLIE ALLEN CHERRY age 68 of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 12, 2010 at his residence.  Funeral services for Charlie Allen Cherry were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J.E. Shoulders officiating. Vin Cline, Lewis White, Gary Holland, Dean Brawner, Doug McDonald, and Earl Davis served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

He was born on August 23, 1941in Macon County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late Farris and Ella Cherry.

On August 19, 1969, he married Donna Davis Cherry, his wife of more than forty years, who survives.  Charlie was a retired meat cutter, where he worked at Houchens and other stores, for almost twenty-three years. He worked in administration for the Macon County Highway Department and held various other jobs, including a self-employed truck driver in his earlier years. Charlie served as County Commissioner of the 18th. district for 8 years and always enjoyed serving on a number of committees. He also served on the Macon County Election Commission for ten years and served on the Board of CHEPC for several years.  Before Charlie’s health started to fail, he always enjoyed talking and trading with people.

Charlie suffered with a tremendous amount of pain and fought a long, hard battle; never wanting to give up. He loved his wife, family and his two cats, Snowflake and Buttons.

Besides his wife, he is survived by; sister, Mamie Stinson and nephew, Darren Stinson, both of Lafayette, TN, brother-in-law, Earl (Laura) Davis of Portland, TN, Nephew, Kevin (Christy) Davis, Ocala, FL, Nephew, Eric (Kris) Davis and great nephew, Spencer Davis, all of Minneapolis, MN. Several Aunts, one Uncle and several cousins, also survive.

 Lavelle Clayborne of Lafayette, TN died at her home on February 10, 2010 at the age of ninety-three.  Funeral services for Lavelle Clayborne were conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Harold Dean Linville and Elder Ricky Wilson officiating. Lonnie Overstreet, Jerry Scurlock, Mike Hesson, Ricky Leath, and Mike Tomlin served as honorary pallbearers. Wesley Clayborne, Orry Clayborne, Wade Bruce, Kyle Clayborne, Greg Clayborne, Jason Clayborne, Brian Swindle, Mike Skaggs, and Dennis Jarvi served as active pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

She was born on June 5, 1916 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late John Earnest and Gertie Lois Cothron Polston.

Lavelle was married to Jewell Mason Clayborne on December 15, 1935, sharing six children and fifty-nine years together; Jewell preceded her in death on April 29, 1995. Besides her husband and parents; Infant son, Hillous Wayne Clayborne, brothers, Carnell Polston, Johnnie Othell Polston, half-brother, Joe Polston, and a sister, Evelle Swindle, also preceded her in death.

She worked different places for several years; City Café, Family Restaurant, Morton’s Dry Goods, and Dimeco.  Most people remember her from her working days for her ability to cook.  Although she enjoyed her work, being a homemaker was her full time job. She loved her family, and taking care of her children and grand-children was her first priority.  Lavelle loved sports and watching them on television was her past time; she watched Tiger play golf, the Titans play football, yet she was a big Peyton Manning fan. Lavelle was a loving and caring mother who enjoyed cooking and always had dinner for the family on Sundays. She may have been 93, but she was a very independent woman who was blessed to get to stay home and care for herself. Lavelle was saved by God’s grace as a young woman and joined Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by; daughter, Agnes Bartlett of Gallatin, TN, sons, Eddy and wife Wynona Clayborne of Haysville Community in Macon County, TN, Steve and wife Betty Sue Clayborne of Lafayette, TN, Kenneth and wife Louise Clayborne of Florahome, Florida, and Lee and wife Pat Clayborne of Columbia, TN, sister, Jeanette Williams of Florida, brother, E. J. Polston of Washington State, half-sisters, Edwinna Harris, Joyce Goosbley, and Debra Gonzales, half-brother, Kenneth Polston,

twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren, also survive.

L.C. Hall age 79 of the Green Grove Community in Macon County, Tennessee, died on February 4, 2010 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services for L.C. Hall were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Willard Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jerry Gammon, and Elder Jimmy Cox officiating. The grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.  Patrick Thomas, Daniel Tidwell, Jeffrey Holt, Lewis Ownby, Johnie Holland, Ryan Jones, Starsky Cornell, and Jeffery Cornell served pallbearers. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery.

L. C. Hall was born on July 3, 1930 in Macon County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late J. Huel and Nettie Parker Hall.

As a young man, L.C. married the former Della Mai Ray on April 16, 1955 sharing forty-eight years together and raising nine children; Della preceded him in death on July 8, 2003.  Besides his wife and parents; son, Charlie Hall, daughter, Penny Tidwell, grandson, Steven Pollard, sister, Selma Shoulders, and brother, Earl Hall, also preceded him in death.  

He was a hard working man, putting in long hours farming and working for T.V.A. as an iron worker for most of his life, before retiring in 1989.

L.C. enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting deer or turkey, just going out with his family and friends made him happy.

He was a father that provided for his family and cherished his time with them.

L.C. was saved at age thirty-eight in bed and joined the church shortly after. He was a long time member of Willard Missionary Baptist Church and a Deacon since 1981. L.C. will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is lovingly survived by; sons, J.C. and wife Tina Hall of Green Grove Community

He was born on September 6, 1923 in Macon County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late Edward Samuel Walton, Sr. and Nannie Elizabeth Goad Walton. Ed married the former Dorothy Mae Holland in April 1965, sharing almost forty years together and raising one son William Walton, Jr.; Dorothy preceded Ed in death on March 26, 2005.

Besides his wife and parents; brothers, Roy Walton, Leonard Walton, Cordell Walton, and Willard Walton, sisters, Alma Meador, Ethel Meador, and Rulene Latimer, also preceded him in death.   

Ed opened Walton’s Carpet business in Lafayette, some forty years ago, serving several homes in the surrounding counties. When his son grew up, he began helping in the business and continue on with his father until they closed the business.  Ed enjoyed socializing and talking with his customers and friends that came by.  He was a dedicated husband and father, who loved his family unconditionally.  Ed will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Kim Walton of Lafayette, TN, sister, Bonnie Crowder, nieces, Rita (Ferrell) Meador and Thelma Hooper, all of Lafayette, TN, several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.

HELEN FRANCES WILBURN, age 93 of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on February 1, 2010 at Knollwood Manor.  Funeral services for Helen Frances Wilburn were conducted Thursday, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Taylor, and Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Herald Gregory, Jimmy Wilburn, Billy Toney, Jerry Fisher, David Dyer, and Jimmy Dyer served pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

She was born on November 6, 1916 in Trousdale County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Rome and Neppie Parker Gregory. Helen first met Evans Woodrow Wilburn on Saturday, November 21, 1936, at Cato; they were married on September 29, 1940, sharing sixty-one years together and raising one son, Scottie Wyatt Wilburn; Woodrow preceded her in death on May 27, 2001. Besides her husband and parents; brother, James Gregory and sister, Clarice Gregory, also preceded her in death.

She worked public work in her earlier years, while living in Nashville. After moving back home to a farm in the Meadorville community in 1952, she became a homemaker. A kind, gentle, caring, virtuous woman, Helen was a lover of family and friends, and enjoyed being outdoors.

She was saved by God’s amazing grace as a young girl while attending Mace’s Hill Missionary Baptist Church, after being saved, she was baptized into the fellowship of Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Cato, where she remained a member until death. She loved her church family and her husband’s home church at Old Bottom, and had a desire for everyone to be saved.

Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Gayle Wilburn of the Meadorville community, granddaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Brawner of Lafayette, and Kara (Nathan) Wheet of the Union Hill community, great-grandchildren, Mia, Molly, and Carson Brawner of Lafayette, Elijah and Bree Wheet of the Union Hill community, also survive.

FRANCES SULLIVAN, age 74 of Westmoreland, Tennessee, died on February 1, 2010 at her daughters residence.  Funeral services for Frances Sullivan were conducted Thursday, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jimmy Cox officiating.  Jim Manier, Carl Pruitt, Tommy Draper, Johnny Draper, David Head, and Thomas Head served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery.

She was born on May 2, 1935 in Clay County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late George and Canzada Brown Parrish. 

Frances was married to James Richard Sullivan in 1950, sharing forty-nine years together; he preceded her in death on July 19, 1999. Besides her husband and parents; son, Edward Dean Sullivan, grandson, Alan Dean Sullivan, sisters, Jannie Draper, and Anna Cunningham, also preceded her in death.  

She worked in factories as a seamstress all her life, retiring eight years ago. Frances was a homemaker who liked to quilt in the winter time, but when it become spring and warm weather she would stay outside working in her garden and yard. Frances enjoyed talking and visiting with her friends. She was a loving and caring mother, who cherished her time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Frances will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

DOROTHY COTHRON, age 99 of Macon County, Tennessee died on January 31, 2010 at Westmoreland Care & Rehab.  Funeral services for Dorothy Cothron were conducted Tuesday, February 2, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Woodall and J. E. Shoulders officiating. Mitch Guffey, Anthony Blackwell, Kelly Howell, Matt Howell, Jeff Hughes, and Jerry Brawner served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Green Grove Cemetery.

She was born on February 8, 1910 in Hardy, Arkansas, to her parents; the late Robert Clay and Pearl Walling Henshaw.

Dorothy was married in 1929, for a time to Delbert Coker, the father of her children.

She later married Paul Cothron on April 7, 1956, sharing thirty-two years together; Paul preceded her in death in August of 1988. Besides her husbands and parents;

son, Julius Lee Coker, son-in-law, Roy Satterfield, granddaughter, Lawana Satterfield, brothers, Joe Henshaw, Homer Henshaw, and Virgil Henshaw, sisters, Florence Henshaw, Floye Bennett, and Faye Waller, also preceded her in death.  

Dorothy was a homemaker, a babysitter, and at times had set with the sick. She was a lady who enjoyed the outdoors; working in her garden and flowers. Dorothy had a green thumb when it came to her flowers and liked to show them off. She worked many days along side Paul on the farm and in the fields. She loved to be busy all the time. She was a good cook and the kitchen is where you could find her most anytime, she did enjoy quilting in her spare time, too. She was a loving and kind hearted person, always ready and willing to help others. Dorothy savored every moment she shared with her family. She was saved and joined Fairveiw Missionary Baptist Church around the age of eighteen; then later in life moved her membership to Cedar Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by; daughters, Patricia Jeanette and husband Jim Howell of the Siloam Community, Lallie Dee and husband W.T. She was born on August 28, 1926 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Lacy H. and Cora Fuqua Allen.

Patsy was married to James Bonnell Wallace on March 2, 1945, sharing thirty-six wonderful years together and raising a daughter, he preceded her in death on August 9, 1981.  Besides her husband and parents; an infant son, Buddy Allen Wallace, sister, Ruby Gross, and brother, Billy Ray Allen, also preceded her in death.  

Patsy was a homemaker and a member of the Madison East Nashville Eastern Star #1 for the past fifty years.  She was a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church. 

Patsy was a loving and caring person, who cherished her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

TRAVIS BLANKENSHIP, age 74 of Lafayette, TN and the Rocky Mound Community, died on January 26, 2010 at the Saint Thomas Hospital.  Funeral services for Travis Blankenship were conducted Friday, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend James Wheeler officiating.  Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.

He was born on August 13, 1935 in Macon County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late Dewey Galen and Hattie Belle Swindle Blankenship.

He was married earlier in life to the mother of his children, Bonnie Cates; he later married Viola Blankenship, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2001.  Besides his second wife and parents; son, Anthony Blankenship, great-grandson, Dylan Blankenship, sisters, Velcola Rueleen Blankenship, and Velma Lois Blankenship, also preceded him in death.

Travis was a farmer all his life, milking cows, and raising tobacco crops, until he retired. His past time was going where his boys build barns, sitting for hours just watching them work; they didn’t build a barn that he didn’t see go up. They would always laugh and say “There comes the boss, get to work”. Travis enjoyed watching wrestling on TV, eating Krystals, and riding the carts at Wal-Mart. He was full of life and fun, a very caring and loving father and grandfather, who cherished his time with his family. Travis attended Old Liberty House of Prayer.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

She was born on January 3, 1919 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; to the late Elmer and Ethel Creasy Jenkins.

Mary was married to J. F. Goodman, sharing their life together and raising three children, he preceded her in death on November 11, 1986. Besides her husband and parents; brother, Carlos Ray Jenkins, and sisters, Pauline Butler and Hazel Gross, also preceded her in death.  

Mary worked as a seamstress for Formfit Rogers for eight years and also worked for Sportswear and Wal-Mart for a while.  

She loved to cook for her family and friends; her specialties were chocolate pies, scratch biscuits, ham, and red eye gravy.  Making quilts and sewing was what she enjoyed doing in her spare time. Mary was a loving and caring person, who cherished her family and friends. She was a member of the Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church.  Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was born on December 1, 1915 in Macon County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Dennis Wesley and Mirtie Alice Meador Stone.

Carrie was married to Johnnie Lee Sloan in 1942, sharing forty-nine years together and raising two children, Johnnie preceded her in death on September 21, 1991. Besides her husband and parents; sister, Lera Doss, and brother, Edwin Stone, also preceded her in death.  

She was a school teacher for the Macon County Broad of Education for seventeen years, before retiring in 1998. Carrie loved spending time with her family, camping and taking trips. She liked gardening and was also a good seamstress. Carrie was a very caring person who enjoyed taking care of other people and driving the neighbors to doctor appointments. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Associations and a member of the Eulia General Baptist Church.  Carrie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

CORDELL STORY, age 91 of Trousdale County, Tennessee, died on January 20, 2010 at University Medical Center.  Funeral services for Cordell Story were conducted Saturday, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother J. He was born on June 24, 1918 in Trousdale County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late Bailey and Lee White Story. Besides his parents, two sisters, Frances Story and Lassie Barber, and a brother, Johnny Story, also preceded him in death. 

As a young man he was married and had four children. Cordell was a farmer all his life; he worked several years for Strasser Dairy Farms. He enjoyed hunting as a young boy and loved to work in his gardens.  Being the simple country man that he was, animals were something that he liked to raise and take care of; watching his chickens and ducks grow was his past time.  Spending time with his family and talking with friends was what made him happy, the most. Cordell will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is lovingly survived by; daughter, Betty Sue and husband Robert Wood of Murfreesboro, TN, sons, Billy and wife Linda Story of Murfreesboro, TN, Kevin Story of Hartsville, TN, and Phillip Story of Hartsville, TN, sister, Mildred Story, and

DENVER COLWELL, age 82, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 17th, at his residence.  Funeral services for Denver Colwell were conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the Cathedral Appraise Church of God in Columbus, Indiana with Reverend Bob Vance and Reverend Alex McIntosh officiating.  Interment followed in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.

Denver was born on November 4, 1927 in Perry County, Kentucky to his parents; Willie and Pairlee Colwell, who preceded him in death. As a young man, he married his first wife Martha Mae Colwell, the mother of his children; she preceded him in death. Then on March 31, 1978, he married Virginia Irene Hinds sharing thirty-one years together; she survives. Besides his first wife and parents; daughters, Rita Joy Mills, and Vonda Jill Debruhl, sisters, Verna Calwell, Edith Colwell, and Velvia Colwell, brothers, Elvin, Ezra, and Roger Colwell, and a step grandchild, James Allen Cravens, also preceded him in death.

Denver worked for Arvin’s Automotive of North America for forty years before retiring, working in tool & die for five years in Seymour, Indiana and thirty-five years in the Gladstone Plant in Indiana.  He pastored several churches in different towns such as; Franklin, Greensburg, Mitchell, Columbus, and North Vernon, Indiana. Denver and his wife had recently moved to Lafayette, Tennessee and had planned to make it their home. He was a member of the Church of God in Cleveland, TN, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

RUTH ELIZABETH ROGERS, age 90 of Rockwood, Tennessee and formerly of Lafayette, Tennessee, died on January 16, 2010 at the Rockwood Care & Rehabilitation Center.  Graveside services for Ruth Elizabeth Rogers were conducted Sunday, at 2 p.m. from the Will Gregory Cemetery with Elder G. W. Knight officiating with interment following.

She was born on March 20, 1940 in Coffee County, Tennessee, to her parents; Ira Edgar and Lou Ollie Kemp Waldon, who preceded her in death. Besides her parents; son, Terry Russell, and brothers, Luther C. Waldon and Herbert Alexander Waldon, also preceded her in death.  

Ruth was disabled most of her life, but raised six children. She was a member of Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruth is lovingly survived by; sons, Jerry Russell of Indianapolis, In, Wendall Sours of Alabama, and James Sours of Knoxville, TN, daughters, Tammy Woodcock of Indianapolis, IN, and Tina Vincent of Knoxville, TN, brother, Frank Waldon of Madison, TN, and Billy (Cora Jean) Waldon of Ocean Springs, MS, also survive.

DONALD D. HALE, age 83, of the Akersville Community in Macon County, Tennessee died on January 13, 2010 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.  Funeral services for Donald D. Hale were conducted Saturday, at 11 a.m. from chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Craig Brown officiating.  Scott Hale, Richard Lloyd, Bernie Moore, Todd Moore, Will Parsley, Michael Updegraph, Adam Updegraph, and Torrey Hale served as pallbearers. He was born on August 11, 1926 in Macon County, TN to his mother; America Ella Hale, who preceded him in death.   

Donald served his country in the Army during World War II, after returning home he went to work for the Soil Conservation Office for thirty-two years and for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture for four years, before retiring in the mid. 80’s.   

He was a man who loved life, his past time was playing guitar, singing, cooking and working in his garden. Donald had a big family and enjoyed every chance he had to be with them. He was a loving and caring companion, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Donald was a member of the Corinth Church of Christ and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

JOSE TRINIDAD BARRERA, age 90, of Westmoreland, Tennessee died on January 12, 2010 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services for Jose Trinidad Barrera were conducted Saturday, at 1 p.m. from chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Billy Traughber officiating.  Interment followed on the Family Farm.

He was born on December 12, 1919 in Valauises, Nuevo Leon, to his parents; Juan Barrera and Hermelinda Nacianseno Barrara, who preceded him in death. Besides his parents; brothers, Pedro Barrera and Alfonso Nacianseno, and a sister, Estella Nacianseno, also preceded him in death.  

Jose Trinidad married Rafaella Barrera in the mid. 50’s, sharing almost fifty-five wonderful years together, and raising two sons; Rafaella survives.

He was the owner of a Building Material business in Mexico for over thirty years. Jose Trinidad was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending his time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Mount Zion Pentecostal Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rolando Manuel Camaja Sunun, age 27, of Nashville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 after a fatal accident on a construction site.  Funeral services for Rolando Manuel Sunun will be scheduled and conducted in Guatemala.  The family will receive visitors at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Lee Dotson, age 89, of Lafayette, Tennessee died on January 6, 2010 in Westmoreland, Tennessee after a lengthy illness.  She was born October 6, 1920 in Lafayette, Tennessee to Robert and Mattie Lou Archer.  She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1940 and married Ralph Wick Dotson in 1940.  They have celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Mary spent a life-time in retail sales; first with Delmer Jent at Lafayette Dry Goods, J. C. Penney Co. in Indiana and back to Lafayette Dry Goods.   She finished her working career with Adonal, Inez, and Terry Hudson at Macon Dept. Store on the square.  Miss Mary fitted countless children with their first shoes and assisted men and women with their clothing needs for over 40 years.

She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and a member of Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by: Sister, Virginia Brandon; Brothers, William Silas Archer, Webb Dotson Archer, and Rex Archer; and Daughter & Son-in-law, Julia Anna and Bobby Cothron.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Ralph Dotson of Lafayette, TN, her Daughter and Son-in-law, Lou and Alan Crabtree of Cookville, TX; Grandchildren, Lisa Howard and Husband, Steve of Nashville, TN and Christopher Cothron of Lafayette, TN; Sister, Peggy Goad and Husband, Ray of Lafayette, TN; Brother, Robert Archer of Lafayette, TN; Sister-in-law, Unie Archer of Cookeville, TN numerous nieces and nephews and her grand-dogs, Archer, Cole, Jaxon, Beau, and Bella also survive.

Mary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.  The family is grateful to Westmoreland Care and Rehab Center staff for their care and compassion.

Atrice Durine Gentry, age 83, of Lafayette passed away January 4, 2010, at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services for Atrice Durine Gentry were conducted Friday, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jackie Wood and Reverend James Wheeler officiating.  Terry Marsh, Wayne Marsh, Donald Brewer, Johnny Harris, Jeff Gentry, and Jeff Wood served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.   

Atrice Durine Gentry departed this life on January 4, 2010, at the age of 83.

She was born on April 1, 1926 in Monroe County, KY; she was one of eight siblings

to her parents; John Wiley and Crona Denton Pedigo Denham, who preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents; brothers, Forrest, Fonice, Truman, and Jesse Denham, sisters, Florence Creek, Olene Copas, and Hazel Kirby, also preceded him in death.  

Atrice started as a young girl at home doing house chores and working on the farm until she went to public work.  She was married to Willys Avery Gentry on June 16, 1956, sharing fifty-two wonderful years together, and raising two daughters; Willys preceded her in death on April 4, 2009. She worked for forty years before retiring, she was an accomplished seamstress, working for several garment factories, but worked as an assembler for General Electric for a while, she then went back to sewing, doing custom alterations for Castner Knott Department Store.  Atrice was also known for sewing and designing gowns for several country music stars to wear on the CMA Awards. Atrice was a loving and caring mother, taking great pride in her family and grandchildren.

She was saved as a young eight year old girl and joined Akersville Missionary Baptist Church, she later moved her membership to Gateway Missionary Baptist Church, when she moved to Nashville around the early 60’s were she remained a member.

Atrice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Atrice is lovingly survived by; daughters, Deborah and husband Larry Drake of Nashville, TN, and Diana Gentry of Lafayette, TN, grandchildren, Daniel, David,

and Donovan Drake, and several nieces and nephews; also survive.

Howell Sullivan, Jr., age 50 of the Fairview Community in Macon County, TN, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, at the Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services for Howell Sullivan, Jr. were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jackie Stagner officiating.  Eddie Sullivan, Timmy Sullivan, David Sullivan, David Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, James Sullivan, and David Hesson served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Green Grove Cemetery. 

He was born on February 4, 1959 in Wilson County, TN; he was one of two siblings born to his parents; Howell, better known as “G.D.”, and Dorris Ann Robertson Sullivan, who survives.

He was married as a young man and had three daughters that he loved very much. Howell worked for several years for ABG Caulking, where he served as a foreman for part of his employment, before becoming disabled twelve years ago. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars.  Most importantly, he was saved at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, when he was fifteen years old. Howell will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Howell is lovingly survived by; Parents, “G.D.” and Dorris Sullivan of the Fairview Community in Macon County, TN, Daughters, Twyla, Misty, and Jody, Brother, Frankie Dale Sullivan of the Fairview Community in Macon County, Companion,

Cat Shankle of the Fairview Community in Macon County, also survives.

GEORGE EDWARD MCFERRIN SR., age 87, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Brandywood Golden Living Center. The funeral service for George McFerrin, Sr. was conducted Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Russell Cain officiating.  Justin Carlisle, Shane Carlisle, Jamie McFerrin, Joel McFerrin, Greg Hale, Dewayne Whittemore, and Jeffery Carlisle served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Joelton Hills Memory Gardens. 

George McFerrin, Sr. was born on August 31, 1921.  He was the son of Annie Lora Wesley.  On March 4, 1949, he married Ethel Edith Duhon, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2004.  Together they raised one daughter and three sons. 

George served in the Coast Guard during WWII.  He worked as a manager for Century Steps Company in Lebanon, TN for 15 years.  

    He is survived by; a daughter, Patricia Carlisle of Lafayette, TN, two sons; Jim W. (Tonie) McFerrin of Knoxville, TN, George Jr. (Paulette) McFerrin of Lafayette, TN, brother, John C. McFerrin of Alabama, half brother, Bill Brake of Florida, sister; Ann Laura Head of Alabama, half sister, Bonnie Syfrett of Florida, sister – in – law, Charlesine McFerrin of Alabama, 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
